The Union offense continued its infuriating struggles in front of goal in a 2-0 loss to Orlando City

MLS: Orlando City SC at Philadelphia Union Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Another game with plenty of smoke but no fire for the Philadelphia Union offense led to a demoralizing 2-0 defeat at the hands of Orlando City on Friday the 13th in Chester.

In other words, things will be heavy on the downvotes this time around.

There were some performances — David Accam for starters — that were better than last week but still not good enough while others were worse and some were just WTF. In front of a nationally televised audience on ESPN no less. (Now that the word is out, can we please stop saying the Union should be winning a game because such and such opponent is one of the worst teams in the league when they are clearly that team for everyone else).

Through five games the Union now have five points and three goals. If that sounds bad enough, don’t forget two of those were scored on 10-man New England Revolution in the first game of the season. So one goal 11v11 in 450 minutes.

It’s no wonder fans were chanting “Let’s Go Flyer” toward the end of that sorry display last night.
