Mark McKenzie and Matthew Real are heading to Spain to take part in a United States U20 training camp that runs through March 28.

McKenzie, of Bear, Del, and Real, of Drexel Hill, were among 25 players called up for the camp, which will include matches against France and Atletico Madrid’s U21 squad.

“As we look towards qualifying possibly being earlier than ever before we want to give as many opportunities as possible in this particular camp,” head coach Tab Ramos said. “We are including many younger players with great potential who understand the demands of the international game and how high the expectation is here. Our objective will once again be to set the bar as high as possible at this level.”

The U20 call-ups are the first from the Union since fellow homegrowns Auston Trusty and Derrick Jones were part of the team that played in the FIFA U20 World Cup last May/June.

Philadelphia native and former Union Academy goalkeeper CJ dos Santos was also called into the camp from Benfica in Portugal.
