The Union have played two scrimmages thus far, falling to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday and thumping the University of South Florida on Tuesday. Though those games were open to the public, neither of them was streamed, meaning that this is the first time we’ll see the 2018 Philadelphia Union in action.
Today’s scrimmage will also be David Accam’s first game against his former team, even if it is only preseason. Accam spent three years with the Fire, scoring 33 goals in 78 league appearances. Three weeks ago, the Union sent $1.2m in allocation money to the Fire in order to bring the winger to Chester.
