After picking up a hamstring injury in a scrimmage against Orlando City, Philadelphia Union veteran midfielder Ilsinho is expected to miss at least two weeks, head coach Jim Curtin confirmed on Thursday.

“Last discussions were to send him home, get a PRP injection, have him in the hands of our medical department there,” Curtin said on a conference call Thursday afternoon. “It’s likely at a minimum a couple week injury as it looks now.”

Ilsinho went off in the 30th minute of the first of two 75-minute closed door scrimmages in Orlando on Wednesday. Homegrown midfielder Anthony Fontana replaced him in the match and later delivered an assist on the only goal of the day by Cory Burke in the second match.

In other injury news, Curtin mentioned that homegrown left back Matt Real has missed all but four training sessions in the preseason with an ankle injury and that center back Richie Marquez has also missed time in preseason with a groin injury. Bethlehem Steel FC defender Olivier Mbaizo left Wednesday’s scrimmage with a knock to his knee and Mark McKenzie and Marcus Epps also had minor injuries keep them out of the lineup.

The Union have three matches remaining on the preseason schedule against DC United (Feb. 17), Montreal Impact (Feb. 21) and Tampa Bay Rowdies (Feb. 24). They also have a 10 a.m. scrimmage against Florida International University on Feb. 24.

The Union open the regular season at home against New England Revolution on March 3.
