NYCFC lead Union 2-0 at half

A shambolic first-half performance has the Union on the edge of elimination.

Goals from Ismael Tajouri-Shradi and David Villa have New York City FC ahead of the Philadelphia Union through 45 minutes.

Tajouri-Shradi’s 10th-minute strike was a blistering half-volley. A dummy from David Villa cut out the Union center backs and allowed the Swiss winger a free shot on goal from just 20 yards. The “best/luckiest” finisher of the year made no mistake, and rifled the ball past the outstretched hand of Andre Blake.

Maxi Moralez and David Villa linked up on the counter for the home team’s second goal of the night. The NYCFC attack terrorized Auston Trusty and Mark McKenzie yet again, as Moralez and Villa passed around them as they have all night.

The Union took only three shots in the first half, none of which were bound for goal. NYCFC logged eight shots, half of which were on target.
