Unbeaten through their first 14 matches, the Episcopal Academy boys soccer team entered the United Soccer Coaches national rankings this week at No. 23.
The Churchmen celebrated their national ranking with a 2-1 win over their rivals The Haverford School on Tuesday afternoon. Samuel Wilson had a goal in each half to lead EA, now 13-0-1 on the season.
EA joins only one other area boys team in the national rankings in Salesianum School, which is 7-2-0 on the season. Two area girls teams are in the national rankings with 13-0-1 Cumberland Valley at No. 5 and 14-1-1 Central Dauphin at No. 18.
Episcopal Academy is ranked third in Region III boys rankings, followed by Haverford School (6-1-3 after yesterday’s loss) at No. 5, Conestoga (15-1-0) at No. 7, undefeated Washington Township at No. 8, 14-1-0 North Penn at No. 9, Manheim Township (12-3-0) at No. 11, Abington (15-1-1) at No. 13 and Hempfield at No. 15 with a 12-4-0 record.
The girls Region III rankings include undefeated Allentown at No. 2 behind Cumberland Valley, followed by Central Dauphin at No. 3, Mechanicsburg (16-0-0) at No. 6, Pennridge (12-2-1) at No. 10, 10-1-2 Shawnee at No. 11, Owen J. Roberts (17-0-1) at No. 12, Eastern (14-2-0), No. 13 and Conestoga (13-1-2) at No. 14.
