Whether with the blue and gold of the Philadelphia Union or the black, yellow and green of the Jamaican national team, Cory Burke just keeps producing goals.
The Philadelphia Union striker’s 14th minute goal on Sunday for the Reggae Boyz held up as the game-winner in their 6-0 win over Bonaire in a CONCACAF Nations League qualifier. Burke earned his 15th international cap in the match in the starting XI and played 63 minutes.
Blake wore the captain’s armband for his 34th international cap and registered his 15th clean sheet for Jamaica and second straight after a 4-0 win over Cayman Islands last month.
Ricardo Morris had a brace and Peter Vassell, San Antonio FC midfielder Owayne Gordon and D.C. United forward Dane Kelly also scored.
Jamaica has two games remaining in Nations League qualifying after a 2-0-0 start. They host Suriname in Montego Bay on November 17 and visit El Salvador in March 2019.
A top six finish in qualifying will earn them a spot in League A of the Nations League when group play kicks off next September and a spot in the 2019 Gold Cup. The United States, Mexico and the other participants in the qualifying hex for the 2018 World Cup were automatically seeded in League A for the inaugural Nations League.
