How to Watch: MLS SuperDraft

The Union don’t currently have any picks in either of the first two rounds of the MLS Draft, but here’s how to tune in anyway

MLS: MLS SuperDraft Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Draft day has arrived in Philadelphia and while our hometown team doesn’t presently have any picks in either of the first two rounds that are part of the day’s festivities, it’s still a chance to see a live MLS-related event online in the middle of a bitter cold winter.

The draft kicks off at 11 a.m. and will be broadcast live from the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Major League Soccer’s website and YouTube channel. The video is also embedded below.

New England Revolution’s eighth pick was acquired in the trade that brought Charlie Davies to the Union while New York Red Bulls’ 31st overall pick was sent over in exchange to the homegrown rights for midfielder Adam Name.

The third and fourth rounds - the Union have the 54th, 55th and 77th picks - will be held via conference call on Sunday.

Of local interest for Friday’s event are Lancaster native Drew Skundrich and Delaware native Ben Lundgaard, who both participated in the MLS Combine and are projected to go in the first two rounds. Other players with local ties include four who have played with Union PDL affiliate Reading United in Mo Adams, Frantzdy Pierrot, Paul Marie and Pablo Aguilar. Brian White, who won the 2012 Generation adidas Cup with a Union youth team coached by Jim Curtin is also projected to go in the first two rounds.
