Harrisburg didn’t have a lot of bright spots during what would turn out to be their final season as the City Islanders. Ultimately one of the brightest was the late season play of Inter Allies loanee Ropapa Mensah. Ropapa struggled to find minutes early in the season, but after some offensive injuries for Harrisburg, he went on to score seven goals over fifteen starts in USL play. That was good enough to lead the team in scoring. He even won Goal of the Week for his strike against Richmond.

Fans in Harrisburg were certainly hoping to see Ropapa return to suit up for Penn FC in 2018, but sadly it was not to be. Just today it was announced that he will be joining USL expansion side Nashville SC for this season.

The press release did indicate that he would once again be on a loan from Inter Allies with an option for Nashville to buy. This means that Ropapa will be the first ever loaned player for the new club. In addition, he will be joining former City Islanders Liam Doyle in Nashville, although they did not play for the team at the same time.
It’s currently up in the air who would be the likely replacement for Ropapa for Penn FC. The newly rebranded side has been quiet with their roster moves for this season so far. But finding the back of the net was Harrisburg’s biggest weakness in 2017, and now Penn FC will be looking to replace their top scorer. Hopefully they will be able to use their connections with Inter Allies in Ghana to secure a few new players for 2018.
