Elías Aguilar’s manager says the Costa Rican midfielder has received a formal offer to join the Philadelphia Union.
Club Sport Herediano manager Jafet Soto brought up the subject in a press conference on Wednesday, according to a report in LaPrensaLibre.cr.
This is what the manager, who is also an assistant on the Costa Rican national team had to say (translated via Google Translate):
"Elias went to medical and physical tests at the Philadelphia Union, will return on Friday to close the business, there is already a proposal from the team, but before making a decision, they wanted to see the medical side foreseeing a situation. This is a formal offer, written in ink and paper.”
The Costa Rican international arrived in Chester early this week to train with the team. Union head coach Jim Curtin said during a press conference on Wednesday that he was only in to train with the team, but the same was said about Oguchi Onyewu when he was training with the team on the first day of preseason camp, only to be signed by the team a week later.
If he does sign, Aguilar would occupy the last remaining first team roster spot and would fill one of two international slots available between the first team and Bethlehem Steel FC.
