A loan deal that would send midfielder Eric Ayuk to Sweden is close to being finalized, according to a report by Kristian Dyer in Metro.
Dyer cites an anonymous source in the article.
Swedish first division club Jönköpings Södra IF has been linked to the 20-year-old from Cameroon in recent weeks, following his standout performance with his national youth team in the U20 African Cup of Nations.
The transfer window closes tomorrow in Sweden.
J-Södra’s first match of the 2017 season is April 8. The league schedule, which runs through November, kicks off on Saturday.
If the deal with J-Södra doesn’t work out, Dyer’s source says teams in Switzerland and England are also eyeing him.
Ayuk joined the Union in 2015 via loan as a Discovery Signing and had a pair of goals in 28 appearances for the first team, but has only made one first team appearance since then. He had three goals in 17 appearances for Bethlehem Steel FC in the USL last season.
He is currently unavailable for selection for the Philadelphia Union as he is listed as “on loan” on the team’s roster, a move that freed up a senior roster spot and international slot. All eight international slots are filled on the first-team roster with Ayuk and Aaron Jones listed as on loan and Joshua Yaro on the injury list.
