Philadelphia Union defender Auston Trusty is one step closer to getting a chance to represent the United States in another youth World Cup.
The Media native has been named to U.S. U20 head coach Tab Ramos’ 20-player roster for the CONCACAF U20 Championship later this month in Costa Rica.
The U.S. begins group B play on Saturday, February 18 against Panama at 4 p.m. Eastern and plays Haiti at 5:30 p.m. on February 21 and St. Kitts and Nevis at 5:30 p.m. on February 24. Matches will be broadcast on Univision.
Four teams will qualify for the U20 World Cup in South Korea May 20-June 11.
Fellow Union homegrown Derrick Jones - a previous call-up for friendlies by Ramos - was not eligible for selection, but the Ghana native is expected to have necessary paperwork cleared in time for consideration for the U20 World Cup roster if the U.S. qualifies.
Trusty represented the U.S. in the 2015 U17 World Cup in Chile while a member of the Philadelphia Union Academy.
