Philadelphia Union and Bethlehem Steel FC winger Eric Ayuk got an early birthday present, getting another call up to the Cameroon U20s side. The Cameroon U20s will face off against the Sudan U20s on Thursday, March 2 in the opening round of the 2017 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Zambia.
Ayuk, who turns 20 today, spent most of 2016 with Bethlehem Steel FC. In his 17 appearances, he scored three goals in 1,442 minutes. Ayuk also made a lone appearance with the Union last year, playing 90 minutes against the New York Red Bulls in a 2-0 loss in late October.
The Cameroon U20s are in Group B with the U20s teams from Sudan, South Africa, and Senegal. The teams will play in a six match round robin between February 27th and March 5th. The top two teams will play in a knockout round with the top two teams from Group A, composed of the U20 teams from Guinea, Egypt, Mali, and the host nation Zambia. The final will be held on March 12 in Lusaka.
