Tonny Temple was named an All-American and Brenden Aaronson and Axel Picazo both joined Temple on the all-region team announced by the United Soccer Coaches on Monday.
A forward, Temple scored 10 goals in 16 games last season at IMG and has six goals in 11 games with the Union U19 team this season in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
Aaronson (Medford, N.J.), an attacking midfielder known for his playmaking ability, has a pair of goals in eight games this season with the U19s after spending the summer and part of the fall with Bethlehem Steel, where he made six appearances and two starts. He was named to the Development Academy Best XI in the east over the summer.
Axel Picazo has spent most of his time this season with the U17 team and in addition to his four goals in league play had one of the goals of the tournament in the first leg of the Generation adidas Cup regionals in October. A speedy attacker and constant threat down the right flank, Picazo joined the academy’s residency program last year from Austin, where he starred for Lonestar SC.
Penn Fusion Academy duo Rachael Dorwart (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) and Morgan Messner (Drexel, Pa.) received all-region honors for their play in the Girls Development Academy, which launched its inaugural season in September.
Players, along with their families and coaches, will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Luncheon on January 20 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in conjunction with the 2018 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Philadelphia.
