A dominant performance on both sides of the ball, the Philadelphia Union easily dispatched D.C. United by a score of 3-0 . Both Roland Alberg and Ilsinho converted penalties, and Ilsinho added another goal in the run of play against a listless United team that at times seemed to just invite the Union onslaught. The Union played most of the second half of the match with a man advantage thanks to Kofi Opare picking up two yellow cards, and were able to preserve the shutout win for Andre Blake.
