Bethlehem Steel FC center back Auston Trusty was one of 22 players called into Brad Friedel’s U.S. U19 team for a tournament set to take place this week in Valencia, Spain.
The Media native and Philadelphia Union Academy product who is listed on the fall roster for North Carolina was part of the U.S. U20 team that captured the NTC Invitational in Carson, California earlier this month.
The 33rd edition of the U20 tournament (known as the COTIF Tournament) will see the U.S. face Venezuela on July 26, Mauritania on July 28, Spain on July 29 and finish group play against Bahrain on August 1.
Trusty was last in Spain with the U19 team for the Copa del Atlantico Tournament in February, starting all three of their matches but missed the Slovakia Cup tournament the team captured in April.
Former Union Academy forward/winger Isaiah Young, who helped lead PDA to a third place finish in the U.S. Development Academy finals over the weekend is also in the roster. Other players with local ties include Manchester United defender Matthew Olosunde (Trenton, N.J.) and Young’s PDA teammate, goalkeeper Kevin Silva (Bethlehem, Pa.).
