With European teams finishing up their seasons, American tours and summer friendlies are beginning to be announced. After finishing 15th in the EPL this year, Crystal Palace announced that they are kicking off their summer tour at Talen Energy Stadium to face the Philadelphia Union.
This will be the second time that the two clubs have faced each other. The first time was in 2014 where the Union lost 1-0 off an Ethan White own goal in the 20th minute. The friendly is scheduled for July 13th and this will be the 7th year in a row that the Union have hosted an EPL team, the first dating back to 2010 against Manchester United in a 1-0 loss.
The Union have not always fared well against EPL teams, as they have only won one of those friendlies. The win came against Everton in 2011, the only year the Union have made the MLS playoffs. Crystal Palace will also be playing against USL side Cincinnati FC on July 16h, three days after their bout with the Union and conclude their time in America on the 19th against the Vancouver Whitecaps. Palace still has a game to be played against Manchester United for the FA Cup on Saturday May 21st.
