Philadelphia Union midfielder Tranquillo Barnetta has been named to Major League Soccer's Team of the Week for Week 8. The Swiss midfielder had an assist and was instrumental in Philadelphia's 2-0 win over rivals New York City FC on Saturday, propelling the blue and gold into first place in the Eastern Conference.
Barnetta was joined in the Team of the Week midfield by Toronto FC's Michael Bradley, the New York Red Bulls' Sacha Kljestan, and Emmanuel Boateng of the LA Galaxy. MLS named NYRB's Bradley Wright-Phillips, Toronto's Sebastian Giovinco, and LA's Giovani dos Santos as the three forwards, and D.C. United's Bobby Boswell, Toronto's Drew Moor, and ex-Union and current Vancouver Whitecaps' Jordan Harvey as the three forwards. Vancouver's goalkeeper David Ousted rounds out the league's best eleven.
This is Barnetta's second time on the Team of the Week, as last year he was named to the Week 29 team of the week - which also had Giovinco as one of the forwards.
