Local Division I, II & III schools La Salle, West Chester and Haverford squared off in matches at Rockwell Field at West Chester University on Saturday, April 16.

A sunny Saturday at Rockwell Field in West Chester made for a perfect environment for local college soccer action as local programs representing all three divisions of NCAA soccer played a pair of games against each other.

Hosts West Chester kicked things off in the first game against La Salle and gave the home crowd something to cheer about when Tim French (Bensalem / Holy Ghost Prep) headed home an equalizer but the Explorers responded by retaking the lead on a goal from forward Conor Nichols (Manasquan, N.J. / Wall) before putting the game away with a third goal. Nichols had a brace in the game and Matt Robinson (Lansdale, Pa. / North Penn) added a goal on a free kick.

Philadelphia Union Academy alums Cameron Keys, a goalkeeper, and Garrett Keys, a defender, both featured for the Explorers in the game. Fellow Union Academy alum Brett Glasco is a captain for the Golden Rams.

In the second game, Haverford took it to La Salle early creating chances down the left flank through Ben Field (Portland, Ore. / Riverdale) and up the middle with Ryan Hill (Mercer Island, Wash. / Mercer Island). After an early goal from Alex Clark (Northfields, N.J. / Saint Augustine Prep) put them up, goalkeeper Sam Miller (Mercer Island, Wash. / Mercer Island) made an acrobat save to clear the ball off the line and keep the 2015 Division III quarterfinalists up on their division 1 counterparts. La Salle did, however, eventually get an equalizer from Sixtus Akinlosotu (Bowie, Md. / Bowie) and the game ended a 1-1 draw.

West Chester and Haverford played to a scoreless draw in the final match of the day.
