Philadelphia Union Week 1 MVP

There really was only one choice for our Brotherly Game Union Week 1 MVP Award.

It should come as no surprise that the Week 1 Philadelphia Union MVP as chosen by the staff here at Brotherly Game was none other than Andre Blake . The Jamaican international was a unanimous choice in our poll. Blake tied Montreal Impact's Evan Bush with a league leading eight saves, including this stop on Maximiliano Urruti's shot from the six-yard box.

It's safe to say that if it wasn't for Blake's heroics, the Union would have lost by much more than the two goals they conceded - neither of which were Blake's fault. About Blake, staff writer Frank Cobbina said "I feel like we'll be saying that often this season." Editor Jared Young added "I'd like to argue that someone else even came close, but I'm struggling." In what was a mostly forgettable performance by the Union, Blake's was anything but.

Congratulations Andre on winning our weekly Union MVP Award!
