Bethlehem Steel FC's captain and right back Ryan Richter was named to the USL Team of the Week yesterday. Richter played the full 90 minutes, anchoring the back line that allowed zero shots on goal from FC Montreal en route to BSFC's 1-0 win in Quebec.
A native of Southampton, Pennsylvania Richterplayed with the Ocean City Nor'Easters prior to being drafted fifth overall in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft by the Philadelphia Union. He only managed appearances in a friendlies against Everton and the Harrisburg City Islanders as well as some time with the Union Reserves. Released by the Union in 2012, he spent that year with the Charleston Battery in USL before returning to MLS in 2013 with Toronto FC.
After making 13 appearances for TFC in 2013 and 14, he went to the Ottawa Fury in NASL on loan before signing with the Fury in 2015. After the 2015 season, Richter returned to Northeastern Pennsylvania, signing with Bethlehem Steel FC and becoming their captain.
