The United States Men's National Team (USMNT) victory that opened 2016 gave manager Jurgen Klinsmann plenty to think about heading in to the last friendly before qualifying ramps up again. The Canada match will give the German one last chance to look into the fringe players in camp as he builds his roster for a very important year. Ethan Finlay, Kellyn Acosta, Tony Tchani, and Jerome Kiesewetter all made their USMNT debut to mixed reviews. Acosta, Tchani, and Kiesewetter showed signs of promise, and should receive additional playing time with a chance of jumping up the depth chart. Finlay is lucky he is in a very shallow position in the player pool and will stay relevant for that reason alone. Outside of the debutantes Steve Birnbaum had an eventful showing, especially on the offensive side of the field. It will be important for him to have another strong showing with so many of the center back front runners not in camp. Lastly, Lee Nguyen has been the name mentioned most often in discussions of who "won" Camp Cupcake. With the defense providing the bulk of the goals against Iceland, the USMNT attack will need players like Nguyen to step up their game and make a statement.
