Vincent Nogueira gets his green card

The French midfielder now will no longer occupy an international roster space for the Philadelphia Union.

Philadelphia Union press officer Chris Winkler announced via Twitter that Philadelphia Union midfielder Vincent Nogueira has received a green card, thus freeing up a valuable international slot for the Union.

MLS clubs start each season with nine international slots, however the Union were down to eight as part of the Sheanon Williams deal that sent the Union right back and an international slot to the Houston Dynamo for allocation money. The eight slots were occupied by Nogueira, Tranquillo Barnetta, Anderson Conceição, Eric Ayuk, Joshua Yaro, Fabian Herbers, and Roland Alberg. It's not definite who the Union will sign to fill that slot, all signs point to Brazilian winger Ilsinho. The ex-Shakhtar Donetsk player has been on trial with the Union and has impressed the coaches with his play.

Neither the Union nor Nogueira were available for comment, however we at Brotherly Game would like to congratulate Vincent on getting his green card.
