Eastern’s Quentin Keibler named DIII player of the week

Western Pa. native saved three PKs in two games for the Eagles en route to a conference title

Eastern University goalkeeper Quentin Keibler was named the Division III Player of the Week on Tuesday for his heroics in the MAC Freedom Championships.

The Bethel Park, Pa. native made 11 saves and three more in penalty shootouts after consecutive draws.

The junior made five saves in a scoreless draw against King’s College in the semifinal and stopped a PK save in the shootout then made six more saves and two PK stops after a 1-1 draw with Misericordia in the title match. He was also named MAC Freedom Player of the Week and the conference tournament MVP.

The conference championship was the second straight for the Eagles, who travel to Oneonta, New York on Saturday to play Rochester in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Keibler has seven shutouts and a 0.74 goals against average in 19 starts for the Eagles this season. He’s the second Eastern player this year to be named DIII Player of the Week by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Defender Jacob Myers received the honor on October 25.
