For the second time this season, Butler forward David Goldsmith delivered a dagger to the gut in overtime to lead his team to victory over Villanova.

This time, it was a 1-0 win in double overtime that sent the Bulldogs into the Big East Championship final. Goldsmith scored the second of his two goals to beat the Wildcats in overtime at Higgins Soccer Complex back in September.

His 12th of the season, Goldsmith beat Wildcats goalkeeper Will Steiner with a header off a long pass from Lewis Suddock.

Villanova (10-7-3) managed only one shot in overtime after outshooting the home team 12-11 in regulation. Philadelphia Union Academy grad Zach Zandi led the team with four total shots and two on goal that nearly put the visitors on top.

With the loss, Villanova was shut out in back to back games for the first time this season and the fourth time overall. Steiner made three saves in the match.

Butler will play Creighton in the Big East final on Sunday.
