United States U20 coach Tab Ramos called in 36 players to the first camp of the year in Miami, including current Philadelphia Union Academy players Abu Winter and Yosef Samuel as well as former Union Academy players Sebastian Elney and Isaiah Young. Also among the 36 players were six players currently signed to MLS contracts and eight in MLS academies.
Winter is a dual national, holding citizenship with both the United States and Sierra Leone. The forward/midfielder played in nine games, starting five with the Union Academy's U17/U18s last season. This will be his second season with the Union Academy.
Samuel is originally from Atlanta but resides in Philadelphia. Like Winter, the midfielder is in his second season with the Union Academy. Last season, he played in 17 games, started 11, and scored four goals with the U17/U18s.
A native of Boca Raton, Elney was with the Union Academy for the 2014-15 season. The University of Maryland forward played in 19 games, scoring seven goals in his 16 starts.
Young was with the Union Academy during the 2013-14 season, however he currently plays with the Players Development Academy (PDA) out of Bernardsville, New Jersey. The native of Berlin, NJ played in all 30 of PDA's matches last season with their U17/U18s, scoring 18 goals.
