Conor Casey named to ESPN Team of the Week

The Philadelphia Union striker joins Clint Dempsey and Didier Drogba on ESPN's Team of the Week.

Conor Casey's brace against the San Jose Earthquakes was good enough to get the Philadelphia Union's 34-year-old striker a position on ESPN's Team of the Week for Week 27. Along with Casey, the Montreal Impact's Didier Drogba, who had a hat trick against the hapless Chicago Fire, and the Seattle Sounders' Clint Dempsey, who had a goal and an assist against Toronto FC. The New England Revolution had four players on the list, with midfielders Diego Fagundez (one goal) and Lee Nguyen (two assists) along with defenders Chris Tierney (one goal) and Andrew Farrell being honored for their performance against Orlando City. FC Dallas had three players recognized - defenders Atiba Harris (one goal, one assist) and Zach Loyd, along with goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez (three saves, zero goals allowed) as FCD blanked the slumping Columbus Crew SC. Toronto FC's Eriq Zavaleta (one goal) rounded out the eleven honorees.

Casey was the only substitute on the list, as he scored his brace in just nineteen minutes.
