Sophomore midfielder Brian White, who played with the team that won the 2012 Generation Adidas Cup for the Union, opened his scoring account for the season with his third career goal in a 5-1 win over Loyola last Tuesday and added an assist in the game.
White has started all five of the Blue Devils matches this season after scoring two goals and delivering three assists in seven starts and seventeen games his freshman year. White played 90 minutes in Duke's 2-2 draw Friday night to open ACC play.
Teammate Noah Snyder, the former captain of the Philadelphia Union Academy U-18 team, made his season debut in the Loyola game, coming off the bench to play 20 minutes in just his fifth appearance for the Blue Devils. Freshman forward Brandon Levano made his college debut for Loyola in the loss, an 11-minute cameo off the bench.
Though his contributions haven't shown up on a box score, sophomore center back Patrick Berneski is making the most of his opportunity with Notre Dame. He and the Irish back line have kept a clean sheet in all three matches he's started in this season, including a 1-0 win over Clemson on Saturday night.
Shane Campbell returns from injury; Greer assists on game-winner
After missing the first four games of the season with an injury, Shane Campbell made his return to the pitch for Louisville on Friday night, coming on as a sub in overtime as a forward in a game with Syracuse. Though he played mostly at left back last season, Campbell did a good job putting pressure on the Syracuse back line in his twelve-minute appearance but he and the Cardinals offense were unable to find a breakthrough in a 1-1 draw.
Kenny Lassiter, who played for the Union's 2012 Generation Adidas Cup squad, was a substitute for the Orange in the game, but Union Academy alum Morgan Hackworth and former Academy defender Chris Gomez, who is still waiting to make his college debut, didn't play.
Sophomore forward Matthew Greer recorded his first point of the season, assisting on the game-winning goal for Dartmouth in their 3-0 win over Albany on Sunday. Greer has started all four games for Dartmouth this season.
Joey Julius and Penn State Update
Penn State kicker Joey Julius kicked a pair of 22 and 21-yard field goals and added three extra points in the Nittany Lions' 27-14 win over Buffalo on Saturday. Former high school kicker and Penn State men's soccer forward Connor Maloney returned to the Nittany Lions starting XI on Sunday after missing a game with a concussion in a 1-0 win over No. 10 Indiana.
Non-Division I Update
Not all of the Union Academy alums in college soccer are playing in Division I. Here's what players in lower division college programs have been up to.
