The latest chapter in the Rais M'Bolhi saga could be the last, if recent reports are to be believed. The Algerian goalkeeper is reportedly trialling with Bolton Wanderers of the Championship (England's second division), according to Algerian outlet EL GOUAL. Bolton fan site rt33 says that M'Bolhi started his trial today and would most likely serve as backup to current number one goalkeeper Ben Amos. Also trialing with M'Bolhi is Courtney Meppen-Walter, most recently of Carlisle United of England's League Two (the fourth and lowest professional division).
Getting rid of M'Bolhi has been one of the Philadelphia Union's biggest concerns, since the goalkeeper has been away from the club since being benched after a 3-2 loss to Sporting Kansas City on April 5. In his nine MLS appearances, M'Bolhi was 1-4-4 with a 1.44 goals against average, and his $350,000 a year salary was perhaps one of the biggest things holding up the Union from making moves during the offseason and transfer window.
