The glory usually goes to the goalscorers, but in a game with six goals split evenly, it was the provider and the goalkeeper that earned the Team of the Week honors.
Cristian Maidana assisted all three Union goals, but it was Sean Johnson that turned in the most impressive performance of the night. If not for the Chicago 'keeper's heroics, Maidana would have added an additional handful of assists and a goal or two of his own.
Maidana's inclusion in the Team of the Week is his second of the season and stops a run of four weeks without a Union player in the team. The other Union players/coaches to have been honored in the Team of the Week this season are Fabinho, Brian Sylvestre, CJ Sapong (2), Vincent Noguiera, and Jim Curtin (2). If the impossible is to become possible and the Union make a run at the playoffs, they are going to require quite a few more performances like this one from the man in the middle.
