While playing on a Wednesday is never easy, the Philadelphia Union and Chicago Fire will both also have to deal with injuries to significant players going into the US Open Cup Semifinal match this evening. The Union will be without both Andrew Wenger and Ray Lee. Wenger has been out since suffering a concussion on July 18 against Toronto FC, while Lee has been out for some time with an adductor strain. More recently, both Maurice Edu and Vincent Nogueira's ability to play have come in doubt with Edu suffering a groin injury against the New York Red Bulls on August 1 and Nogueira suffering a strain to his right quadriceps on July 21 against RBNY. Brian Sylvestre is Cup tied to the Carolina Railhawks and is ineligible as is Conor Casey, who picked up a straight red card early in the July 21 Open Cup match against the Red Bulls.
For Chicago, they've been without forward Mike Magee for most of this season, however he was practicing with the Fire and could be available for selection. David Accam, who re-injured his hamstring against the Portland Timbers last Friday, also practiced with the team and could be available as well. The Ghanaian striker missed part of June and July with the hamstring injury he reaggrivated on Friday. Bench option Chris Ritter will probably not be in the eighteen for Chicago with a groin injury.
