While the anticipation is growing for Saturday's rematch between the New York Red Bulls and Philadelphia Union, that will have to wait just a bit. Before the two MLS teams take the pitch, fans will be treated to an exchange match between Special Olympics teams representing Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
Gates at PPL Park will open at 5:30, and the match is set to kick off at 5:45. The Sons of Ben will march in early and cheer for both teams during the run of play. The teams will play two fifteen minute halves, and medals will be awarded to the participants during the halftime of the Red Bulls - Union match.
According to our friends at Once a Metro - SB Nation's New York Red Bulls blog, the Red Bulls have been working with Special Olympics New Jersey's Camp Shiver to help coach soccer skills to those enrolled in the summer camp.
We at Brotherly Game wish all competitors the best of luck.
