The Philadelphia Union's Under-16 Academy team will take on a tough FC Dallas team on Thursday, with a trip to the U.S. Development Academy Championship and a possible rematch with a division foe on the line.
FC Dallas enters the game flying high, having outscored opponents 13-0. FC Dallas advanced to the semifinals with a 6-0 win over Beachside SC on July 8.
The Philadelphia Union - the number two overall seed in the tournament - outlasted the New England Revolution 5-3 in overtime at the PPL Training Ground on July 8 to advance after going a perfect 3-0 in group play. The U-16s have scored twelve goals and conceded six in four playoff games, keeping a clean sheet just once in the final group match against Houston Dynamo.
Thursday's game is scheduled for 5 p.m. Pacific Time (8 p.m. Eastern) at Field 3 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. There's no word yet whether a stream will be made available of the game. The U.S. Development Academy page on USSoccer.com hasn't been updated since the quarterfinals were set on June 28.
The New York Red Bulls take on Georgia United in the other semifinal on StubHub Center Field 1 at 4 p.m. local time. The Red Bulls finished six points ahead of the Union in the Atlantic Division regular season and are the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament.
