PPL Park to re-brand after MLS Season

The home of the Philadelphia Union will be getting a new name.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Since 2010, the Philadelphia Union have called PPL Park home. The iconic stadium, located right on the Chester waterfront holds a great view of the Delaware River and the Commodore Barry Bridge. At the end of the 2015 MLS season however, the Union will have a new name for their home.

PPL Energy has re-marketed themselves to create a new company, calling themselves "Talen Energy". Talen will still have all of the clientele that PPL Energy Plus had. The reason that PPL Park will need to re-brand as well is because PPL/Talen has the naming rights to the stadium through 2020. Spokesman Tood L. Martin explained how the process works saying "The naming rights are owned by our retail marketing business and come over to Talen Energy. Some of the signage and advertising in the stadium has already been changed to Talen Energy, but nothing will change with the stadium name and/or branding until after the current soccer season." While it is unknown what the stadium will be renamed to, the obvious top choices would include Talen Stadium, Talen Energy Stadium, or PPL Talen Park.

What do you think the new name should be? Do you think it should still be called PPL Park? Let us know in the comments section below!
