MLS Rivalry weekend had its fair share of amazing goals, but one of the most amazing goals came from a game that consisted of two non-rivals. In the 8th minute of play, Cristian Maidana played a short cross to forward CJ Sapong who laid it off to youngster Eric Ayuk, who blasted it far post to give the Philadelphia Union the early lead over the Montreal Impact. MLS quickly jumped on the Ayuk bandwagon and tweeted about his goal. We are still unsure if it was because of the goal or the flips he proceeded to do in celebration, but it got their attention.
An absolute screamer from Eric Ayuk. #PHIvMTL #DOOP https://t.co/QRRuYCIKBN

The goal was the highlight of Ayuk's game as he would be sent off in the 77th minute after receiving a second yellow card. Union fans still forgave Ayuk for the red card due to the beauty of the goal, but when the time came for nominations for AT&T Goal of the Week, Ayuk's goal was omitted. Somehow, Ayuk's screamer to the far post was left off the ballot but a goal from inside the 6' by San Jose Earthquakes striker Chris Wondolowski and a simple far post shot by Toronto FC striker Jozy Altidore made the list.
