Union sends out survey to gauge interest in USL team

The Philadelphia Union seem to be gauging interest in a USL club of their own.

John Geliebter-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Union sent a questionnaire out today to its season ticket holders asking questions about where fans would like to see a USL club and approximately how often fans would go to see it. The survey also posed the question of ticket pricing, asking if fans would be willing to pay an extra $100 with their season ticket dues to get season tickets for the hypothetical USL club.

The questions seem to indicate that the Union are at least considering cutting ties with the Harrisburg City Islanders, who have served as an affiliate club since March 2010. The relationship seems to have grown a bit strained over the past year or so, with the possibility of moving HCI closer to Chester being floated as well as the City Islanders and Harrisburg city government applying to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for grant money to make much needed repairs to their stadium.

While non-binding, it will be interesting to see what the results of this poll will be and whether the Union will listen to the results.
