Philadelphia Union goalkeeper Andre Blake has been named to the Jamaican National Team's preliminary 35-man roster for the upcoming 2015 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Despite only having one MLS start to his name, Blake has been a consistent starter for Jamaica, even being receiving the Golden Gloves in the 2014 Caribbean Cup. His performance in the Caribbean Cup allowed Jamaica to secure a spot in this years Gold Cup.
Unfortunately, two knee injuries have not only jeopardized his potential minutes with the Union, but also his time with the national squad. This call up should be a signal that Blake is healing up and hopefully well on his way to being a keeper worthy of a number one overall selection in the MLS SuperDraft. And unless the Union extend Brian Sylvestre's loan until the end of the season, Blake will be needed sooner rather than later
