Philadelphia Union center back Steven Vitoria returned to practice "for the first time in three weeks," the Union announced today. The Portuguese defender missed all five games in May due to a left hamstring strain.
With Vitoria out, the Union went on their best run of the season, taking six points from five games. In that stretch, the team posted their second and third clean sheets of 2015.
Despite the team's success in his absence, Vitoria will certainly retake his place in the starting lineup. The Benfica loanee hasn't set the world alight in his first few months with the Union, but his play has not been bad enough to warrant a benching from the technical staff that acquired him mere months ago.
With his return to full practice coming two days before the Union's home clash with Columbus Crew SC, Vitoria should be considered questionable until he is deemed fit to start.
