New York City FC midfielder Mix Diskerud is set to miss the June 6th game against the Union after receiving a call-up to the USMNT from Jurgen Klinsmann. The U.S. will take on the Netherlands June 5th, followed by Germany on June 10th. Fortunately, with this friendly one day before the Union take on NYCFC and four days before the friendly against Germany, there will be no surprise appearances by Diskerud at PPL Park this week.
This call-up will be good news for the Union as they look to beat the struggling NYCFC expansion side for a second time this season. Without one of their star midfielders and Frank Lampard still being a week or two away from joining the starting XI, the Union will hopefully be able to take advantage of the short-handed club and continue to try to climb out of the early season hole they have dug for themselves.
Diskerud will be joined by fellow MLS players Michael Bradley, Brad Evans, Brek Shea, Kyle Beckerman, Jermaine Jones, Juan Agudelo and Gyasi Zardes.
