tBG) While the Vancouver Whitecaps weren't very active during the offseason, they did make a couple of moves to shore up the lineup. How have the new guys been performing thus far in the season?
86F) You can't talk about the new faces in the lineup without mentioning Octavio Rivero, who currently leads the Whitecaps with 5 goals so far. Rivero has been a revelation, a welcome addition to the 'Caps starting eleven. Rivero is quick, aggressive, creative, and isn't afraid to make plays for himself. Hopefully he can keep his scoring pace going as we march through the season. On the other side of the spectrum, veteran center back Pa Modou Kah has been inconsistent and reckless with his play, and has many Whitecaps fans wondering why Andy O'Brien couldn't be brought back for another season.
tBG) BC Place is quite the venue. Can you give the readers here a sense of some of the things that make it a special place to watch a match?
86F) The fans are unbelievable, of course, so the place is always full and always jumping. In Vancouver, we're pretty lucky to have a beautiful facility like BC Place, especially considering you can open the roof of the building on those perfect summer evenings. If you can snag a seat near the SouthSiders, I would suggest you leap at the opportunity, because that will be the most fun you have at a soccer match.
tBG) The Montreal Impact made it to the CONCACAF Champions League Finals and Toronto FC spent a huge amount of money (again) on big name players. Since the Philadelphia Union don't play Vancouver but once a year, what would you tell the fans here to get them excited to see the Whitecaps?
86F) Speed, speed and more speed. When the Whitecaps are on their game, they have one of the most exciting attacks in all of Major League Soccer. Outside of Rivero, you have the young guns in Kekuta Manneh and Darren Mattocks, the midfield wizards in Mauro Rosales and Pedro Morales, and veteran supporting characters like Robert Earnshaw. Simply put, if this team realizes their full potential, they could be terrifying.
Predicted Lineup: David Ousted, Sam Adekugbe, Kendall Waston, Diego Rodriguez, Steven Beitashour, Matias Laba, Russell Tiebert, Mauro Rosales, Pedro Morales, Kekuta Manneh, Octavio Rivero
Predicted Score: Whitecaps defend their house with a 2-0 victory.
