Philadelphia Union Academy defender Auston Trusty is on the United States Under-17 National Team preliminary roster for a camp in Carson, California next week ahead of a trip to South Korea for the Suwon Continental Cup.
Trusty is one of 22 players on the roster, according to a report in Top Drawer Soccer. The Media native received his first call-up by coach Richie Williiams for a camp in North Jersey earlier this month.
The U.S. will take on Korea (June 10), Brazil (June 12), and Nigeria (June 14) as part of the South Korea tournament. The training camp in Carson will be held June 2 to 5.
Trusty has played on both the Union Academy U-18 and U-16 teams this year and is verbally committed to play college soccer at the University of North Carolina in 2016.
He's played in 17 games and started 14 for the U-16 team this season, scoring four goals. He's started in seven games for the U-18 team in U.S. Development Academy play, all in 2015.
The U-17s qualified for the U-17 World Cup at the CONCACAF U-17 Championship in Honduras earlier this year following a 5-4 shootout victory over Jamaica. The 2015 U-17 World Cup will be held from October 17 to November 8 in Chile. The group pairings for the 24-team tournament have not been released yet.
