Fabinho Named to Pro Soccer Talk Team of the Week

Brazilian left back recognized for excellent performance against the New York Red Bulls.

Fabinho has been named to Pro Soccer Talk’s Week 12 Team of the Week. You read that right, Fabinho, according to this list, was one of the best defenders in MLS this week. Despite the fact that Fabinho is often and understandably criticized by the Philadelphia Union fan base, the Brazilian left-back put in quite a performance during the Union’s first ever win at Red Bull Arena. Fabinho was excellent on the offensive side of the ball all game, completing two key passes and leading the team in that category. He was accurate with his long balls as well, with five of his nine long balled being labeled as "Accurate Long Balls". And in an uncharacteristic day for the Brazilian, he only registered one cross on the day and that was the cross that found CJ Sapong in perfect position to give the Union the 2-0 lead. Games like this will probably be few and far between, but if Fabinho can put in well-rounded performances like this while Ray Gaddis continues to nurse an ankle injury, then the Union may not be in as much trouble as previously assumed.
