With Andre Blake and Rais Mbolhi on the bench for the long-term, and John McCarthy still recovering from a concussion, the Union have extended the loan of Brian Sylvestre by eight weeks.

Though John McCarthy may be healthy enough to start on Sunday, Dave Zeitlin of mlssoccer.com writes that the the La Salle graduate won't just walk back into the team. Loanee Brian Sylvestre impressed in Vancouver last week, even though he was hung out to dry on three occasions. In fact, he may have done enough to unseat McCarthy, who was unspectacular during his short run as a starter. If Sylvestre turns in another fine performance this weekend, he may be the team's starter until Andre Blake returns from injury.
Going the other way, the Union have loaned Dzenan Catic to the Carolina RailHawks, who will now be without their preferred backup goalkeeper for another two months.

The Bosnian striker has not yet made his MLS debut, but he has cracked the Harrisburg City Islanders' starting eleven. It is not yet known how long Catic will be with the RailHawks. He'll likely return to Philadelphia when Sylvestre returns to Carolina, but a whole season in the NASL wouldn't be the worst thing for Catic in his rookie year.
