The match between the Philadelphia Fury and Icon FC was played at Tom Brown Field in Washington Township, NJ. The Fury played against a dominant visiting squad that controlled much of the action during the match.
From the beginning Icon control much of the ball. Already a threat to score they got their goal in Guy Serge Balow who knocked in a rebound to give them an early lead. The half continued the same way for Icon, still controlling possession and getting chances.
The second half saw the Fury offense come alive in the form of fast winger Blaise Sinjui who made a long run the length of the field and fed a pass to Seydou Ba who put it into the net to tie the match and got a loud roar from the home crowd.
The joy was short lived. Max Garcia of Icon sent his shot go past Fury keeper Chase Clement nine minutes later to regain the lead for the Blues. They kept that lead till the end to finish it 2-1.
"I was very pleased in the second half, especially in the attacking end," said Fury head coach Cris Vaccaro. "What needs to be fixed is that we need to score. We need to finish our chances and be a bit more organized."
The Fury will now play their next few games on the road and that starts this upcoming Saturday when they play Mass United.
