McGann scores golazo in 5-0 win for U-14 team

Rayshaun McGann scored a pair of goals, including a long distance wonder strike, to lead the way for the U-14s in a 5-0 win over Soccer Association of Columbia (Md.) on Saturday.

Rayshaun McGann's return to the U-14 team after winning a trophy with the U.S. Under-15 team in Europe was a successful one as he capped off a brace with a long-distance golazo in a 5-0 win over Maryland club Soccer Association of Columbia on Saturday.

McGann also scored in the 40th minute of the game for the Union. The goals were the defender's first two of the season. Iverson Brisma opened the scoring for the U-14s in the 18th minute and Giovania Jimenez and Blaire Barber added goals in the 34th and 55th minutes.

Barber, Brisma, Christian Contreras, Kevin Escobar, Jimenez, Chad Letts, McGann, Tomas Romero, Andrew Taber, Fimmbarr Teah and Cole Turner were in the starting XI for the game played at YSC Sports.

Brenden Aaronson, Carter Emack, Vilbert Fortulus, Seth Kuhn, Nykolas Sessock and Andres Uribe came off the bench in the match.

It was the seventh time this season that the U-14 scored five or more goals in a match. They scored six times in a 6-0 rout of NJCSA in April and beat PA Classics 7-0, Georgia United 7-1, World Class FC 6-0, Richmond United 5-0 and Contintental FC DELCO 5-0 in the fall.

The U-14s travel to play Bethesda-Olney on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. and finish the season at home with games against New York Red Bulls on May 30 and Match Fit Academy on June 6.

The U-18 and U-16 teams both had the weekend off and will travel to face Montreal Impact this Saturday.
