The Philadelphia 76ers unveiled their new primary and secondary logos today. Why would a soccer blog write an article about the local NBA team's new logo? Have a look.
Here's your first taste of our new look. We'll complete it on June 18. #MadeInPHILA " http://t.co/0dQOi3Ebfg pic.twitter.com/N6QmgtgClK

It looks similar to the Philadelphia Union's logo - one they've used since the club's inception in 2010. Now this isn't to say that the Sixers are ripping off the Union's logo or anything - on the contrary I kinda like the idea that the logos of the two teams are similar. After all, they do represent teams in the same city. And believe it or not, there are differences - albeit subtle ones. The fonts are different, the number of stars are different, the Union's crest has a gold outer ring around it... Again subtle differences, but enough where it's really its own thing.
It's also worth noting that there are a lot of NBA logos that are circular and have these design elements. The Washington Wizards, Toronto Raptors, and Utah Jazz all have circular logos with these elements.
Twitter user @pacdude had the right idea by changing all Philly teams' logos into the style of the Sixers and Union.
Well, if the #Sixers can get a new logo that looks like the @PhilaUnion's logo, let's just go all the way: pic.twitter.com/LcFhGQRcwM
