Philadelphia Union Academy U-16s win final Generation Adidas Cup game on PKs

The Union finished play in the Generation Adidas Cup tournament with a 2-3 record.

Justin McMaster scored two minutes into the second half and Jack Skahan converted the decisive penalty kick to give the Philadelphia Union Academy U-16 team a win on penalty kicks over Athletic Bilbao in their final game at the U-17 Generation Adidas Cup tournament in Frisco, Texas.

Justin Bajek started in goal and made an critical save in the penalty shootout. Joining him, McMaster and Skahan in the starting XI were Rayshawn McGann, Auston Trusty, Mark McKenzie, Andrew Aprahamian (at right back), Kurtis Orrson, Josue Monge and Raheem Taylor-Parkes.

Alex Soto, Anthony Fontana, Jerren Nixon and Tiger Graham also scored in the shootout.

The PK win came after a 1-0 loss to Aspire Academy in the first of the final two consolation games for the Union, which finished third in Group C play with a win over San Jose Earthquakes and losses to Palmeiras from Brazil and Eintracht Frankfurt from Germany.

McMaster finished the tournament with a pair of goals and Taylor-Parkes also chipped in a goal in the win over San Jose.

The U-16s resume their U.S. Development Academy schedule next Sunday away to DC United.
