Academy teams go 2-0-1 against DC United

U-18s draw and U-16 and U-14 teams both notch wins over DC United on Sunday.

Jack Skahan found a winner in the 80th minute to lead the Philadelphia Union Academy U-16 team to a 1-0 win over D.C. United Sunday afternoon. The win was the fourth straight for the team dating back to December, and moved them a point ahead of New York Red Bulls in the East Conference Atlantic Division standings.

The team is now 15-2-0 on the season - the Red Bulls are on 44 points with a game in hand.

The game was the first for the U-16s since traveling to Frisco, Texas for the Generation Adidas Cup finals. The starting XI included Andrew Aprahamian, Lamine Conte, Dawson McCartney, Rayshaun McGann, Mark McKenzie, Justin McMaster, Josue Monge, Skahan, Raheem Taylor-Parkes, Auston Trusty and Andrew Verdi.

Joseph DeZart, Kalil Elmedkar, Anthony Fontana, Tiger Graham and Alex Soto came off the bench.

The team returns home to play NJCSA on Saturday at 4 p.m. at YSC Sports and hosts Empire Revolution at the PPL Park Training Field on Sunday at 1 p.m.

U-18s

Derrick Amaniampong (aka Derrick Jones) scored in the second minute, but DC United found an equalizer two minutes later from University of Maryland bound Eryk Williamson in a game that was a defensive battle the remaining 86 minutes on Sunday.

Will Campbell, Freeman Dwamena, Sebastian Elney, Morgan Hackworth, Cameron Keys, Zach Perez, Yosef Samuel, Michael Swift, Sean Wilson and Zach Zandi were also in the starting XI. Conor Bradley, Shane Bradley, Kevin Carvalho, Ryan Raheem Miller and Johann Weatherly came on as substitutes.

The draw kept the Union in fourth place and a Wild Card position in the East Conference Atlantic Division behind PDA, DC United and New York Red Bulls.

The team returns home to host NJCSA at YSC Sports at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Empire Revolution at the PPL Park Training Field Sunday at 11 a.m.

U-14s

Daniel Bloyou scored in the 53rd and 68th minute and substitute Seth Kuhn added a third goal in the 71st of a 3-0 win over DC United for the U-14 team.

Brenden Aaronsen, Nicholas Blacklock, Christian Contreras, Tanner Dail, Vilbert Fortulus, Nicholas Liddy, Michael Pellegrino, Tomas Romero, Nykolas Sessock and Andrew Taber were also in the starting XI.

Kuhn, Carlos dos Santos, Carter Emack, Kevin Escobar, Chad Letts, Aziz Saidi and Antek Sienkiel came off the bench.

The team returns home to host NJCSA at noon at YSC Sports on Saturday and Empire Revolution at 11 a.m. at the PPL Park Training Field on Sunday.
