A late goal by German club Eintracht Frankfurt eliminated the Philadelphia Union Academy U-16 in the Generation Adidas finals in Dallas on Monday afternoon.
The Union's starting XI for the game included Andrew Verdi in goal, (the lone player born in 2000 on the squad), Auston Trusty, Joe DeZart and Robert Campbell in the back line, Josue Monge, Jack Skahan, Lamine Conte and Andrew Aprahamian in the midfield and Tiger Graham and Jerren "JJ" Nixon as forwards.
Brazilian club Palmeiras beat San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 in the other Group C game. Palmeiras enters the final Group C game on Wednesday at the top of the table with six points and a plus 5 goal differential. Eintracht Frankfurt is second with six points and a +4 goal differential. The group winner will advance to the semifinals and the best second place finisher in all three groups will advance.
The Union wrap up Group C play with a game against San Jose Earthquakes Wednesday at 3 p.m. central. Palmeiras and Frankfurt play at 4:30 p.m. central time.
The Union will play two more games, at 3 p.m. April 2 and 2 p.m. April 4 before returning home.
