Former Union midfielder Freddy Adu has signed with Kuopion Palloseura (KuPS) of Finland. This will be Adu's 11th club.
KuPS has been a mid-table club for most of their 92 years, but they experienced some success during the beginning of the decade. The Finnish club took 2nd place in the 2010 domestic campaign, which earned them a spot in the 2011-12 Europa League. They lost to CS Gaz Metan Mediaș in the second round, but made a deeper run in the following year. In 2011, KuPS was the runner-up in the Finnish Cup, which earned them a spot in the Europa League yet again. In the 2012-13 Europa League season, KuPS made a run to the third round, but they were promptly slapped by Bursapor, whom Maurice Edu would join months later.
Stephen McCarthy, a former New England Revolution defender, will play alongside Adu at KuPS.
Look for a similar post in eight months, when Adu signs with Slavia Sofia.
